Has anyone used external storage (Box, AWS, etc.) for attachments?

Has anyone used external storage (Box, AWS, etc.) for attachments?  Our PS_PV_ATT_DB_SRV table is getting huge and we are looking at trying to export these documents/images to decrease the table/database size using cheaper storage.  We still need to be able to retrieve them from PeopleSoft when a user clicks on the attachments link from a voucher, expense report, etc.  We configured with ftp using Box, but the performance of opening the attachments is very poor.  Are wondering if anyone has done this with HTTP or an API?
