Sell/split off business units from PS instance
We are in process of finalizing a deal to sell off a large portion of our business. With the sale, we need to create a separate database instance so they can continue to process transactions separate from our company. Does anyone have any experience with this? We are trying to figure out how we will purge all the data related to business units the new company is not buying from their separate instance. Any advice/assistance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alicia Kinsey
@Jenny Catlett We decided to clone our existing database and strip it of any transactional data. We identified all of the tables that had data in our database and went through each one to decide what data should be kept. We use GL, AP, AM, EX, CM, AR, BI and had a team of 6 and it took us about 5 weeks to clean the database and test once we decided our path. We also put the new environment in a 'bubble' so it could not access our production environment. We tested in a separate database and then did the actual copy a few days prior to the split in order to get the latest data. There were some in flight transactions that had to be dealt with like open items and open vouchers, but we got as much closed out as possible. Let me know if you would like to discuss further and we can get on a call with some of my team as well. We had very few issues once the database was split.
@Alicia Kinsey I'm curious if you were able to find a solution or anyone with experience on this. We are dealing with the same thing. Any advice you can provide would be appreciated.
