Data entry lock out while processing Payroll for NA

Currently, we are not allowing anyone to do any data entry of any kind in job while payroll is in process.  That would mean all entering of job data for a 3 day period.  I would like to know how others are handling this business process.  We are currently on version Payroll for NA 9.2.
