Business Unit Security
Business unit security.
Hi All, Is anyone using Business unit security in JDE ? Please let us know for any positive's or negatives especially with regards to performance.
@govind saxena
Hi Govind,
I configured and maintained Business Unit security about 15 years ago, at an end-user site on the Xe release, and the one thing that I remember from there, was that you had to be very precise to ensure that you were securing-in and -out the correct ranges of Business Units, that you wanted to. You also had to consider (and test, test, test) the interactions between the User, Group, and *PUBLIC security that you had set-up, specifically if you had set-up Business Unit security at two or more of those levels. At EnterpriseOne level, you now have Roles to consider, too.
From a performance perspective, in my current role at Klik IT, we have seen processes run 10 times faster WITHOUT Business Unit security.
Another aspect to consider, is data integrity. Would you be affecting the actual, and perceived, data integrity of documents, if you had Business Unit security in place, for any of the "CRUD" operations over the data that you are securing.
Hope this helps,
Russ
