10:00 am – 10:45 am Presentation – Application Development in 2020 and JDE’s getting to Vanilla
With the release of 9.2 and JDE Orchestrator, JDE has been espousing “getting to
vanilla” in the JDE core system. This direction opens a huge opportunity for
companies to develop customized and value driven custom solutions without breaking
up or manipulating the JDE functional logic. So, how do you start? In this session we’ll
talk about what the state of play is in the application development space from open
source to the latest foray of software providers and “Low Code” offerings. There are a
ton of ways to move, learn how to choose the route which makes the best sense for
your business. Whether you’re on 9.2 or not, you can still learn about the array of
opportunities which exist in the application development space.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm Presentation – Reimagine Your Retrofitting! A Wilbur-Ellis Story about upgrading with
    continuous adoption in mind.
Wilbur-Ellis upgraded from 9.0.2 to 9.2 during 2018. Instead of running the project
entirely on their own, which is what they did when they upgraded to 9.0.2, they decided
to enlist the help of an experienced and specialized Systems Integrator. Why? Because
they were very keen to reduce the size of, and to clean up, their modified footprint. A
nice, tidy and smaller modified footprint, after all, ensures that the software will be
easier to maintain and that all future projects will be less challenging and will probably
take less time and resource. These are key ingredients for any strategy a company
might adopt for life after upgrading to 9.2. Wilbur-Ellis's JDE solution is being used by
2,300 users in 3 divisions and 20 countries. As part of their upgrade they identified a
39% reduction in the modified footprint, saving a potential 236 days of effort. The
revised footprint of roughly 2,500 objects was then retrofitted on-time and on-budget
and supported a seamless transition from object delivery into testing. Quite a success!
OBJECTIVE 1: Understand how Wilbur-Ellis not only worked with DWS to reduce the
number of modifications to be retrofitted, but also decided to move away from totally
    customized localizations for India.
OBJECTIVE 2: Learn how the highly skilled and experienced Wilbur-Ellis team, including
development resources, were able to agree a plan that leveraged the particular skills of
their own people alongside the development and technical experts from DWS.
OBJECTIVE 3: Explain how the project was managed and controlled, particularly focusing
    on quality assurance and testing.
