Transportation Management Module and 'Make to Order' Question
We are investigating the Transportation Management Module (TMS) and we are finding that the sales order detail (F4211) dates are being updated during the shipment routing process.
According to Oracle Doc ID 625513.1 – For outbound shipments the Pick Date (PDDJ) and Ship Date (PPDJ) are calculated by TMS based on the Customers Request Date (DRQJ), using transit days and the workday calendar. This will work well for discrete ‘make to stock’ manufacturing but does not work in a 'make to order' environment. (line type 'W')
Because most of our sellable items are configured ‘make to order’ vs. discrete ‘make to stock’, we require our Pick Date (F4211.PDDJ) and Ship Date (F4211.PPDJ) to be set according to item lead time and work center capacity.
Is it possible to continue to calculate the dates in TMS but NOT update the sales order detail file (F4211)? What negative consequences would we run into if we do not update the sales order detail file?
I would prefer not to bypass routes/rates. I would also prefer no mods to existing code.
Has anyone used configurator and TMS successfully?
