World to E1 Upgrade
Hello JD Edwards Project Managers! On our PM SIG call today we had a question about the length of a project for upgrading from World to EnterpriseOne. Have any of you managed or participated on a World to EnterpriseOne upgrade recently? About how long did the project take?
@Barbara-Canham, thanks for letting us know your experiences & pointing to additional resources. Much appreciated!
@Ed Waldschmidt. Thanks Ed, for the reply. Articulation of cost/benefit is an important aspect of getting a project approved and is difficult, especially with like for like upgrade projects.
@Patrick faloney, Thanks for your reply!
@Peggy Christensen Hi Peggy, I have seen World to E1 projects take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Please check out the customer stories from Turner and Miller Zell on their World to E1 upgrades: https://questoraclecommunity.org/learn/customer-stories/ Also, the World User Group SIG (WUG) provides a forum to share upgrade experiences and will be discussing World to E1 Migration on the July call which is Tuesday, July 9th, at 11:00 am ET. @Peggy Christensen , I have not managed but have scoped out what it would take on two avenues. One keeping the IBM i Power system and the other migrating off of the platform. To keep the Power system, we estimate 1 to 1/2 years with a cost of about 1 million dollars to migrate. On the second one, 2 to 3.5 years to migrate at a cost of 5 to 10 million dollars. Right now with my company, the owners are not willing to take either risk.
@Peggy Christensen I would check with KS2. They did our upgrade that went live in December 2017. I was not here for the whole process but they did most of the migration work.
